Sunderland Freshers Week is brought to you by the team behind Independent, Sunderland’s biggest and longest running nightclub and music venue. Independent has played host to the city’s biggest weekly parties, club night events, massive national touring names and DJs since 2006.
We’ve hosted everyone from Erol Alkan to Marshall Jefferson, from Bonobo to Sam Fender (but never Barry Chuckle). We’re the home of the original Blue Pint, we’re the house of The Sesh, the late-night home-from-home where you’ll always find a warm welcome.
Independent’s Sunderland Freshers Week wristband will introduce you to our world of massive events, big names and the best night-time parties Sunderland has to offer alongside an introduction to the leisure activities and independent and locally-owned pub, bar and restaurant scene that is thriving in our city. From city-wide bar crawls to bowling, we’ve put together a diverse week of shit for you to do, that isn’t all about getting shit-faced (although there is loads of that!).
When the chaos of Freshers Week subsides we hope you’ll keep coming back - we’ll be here for you every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday for our regular parties, and we have touring bands here much every week and weekly live music nights like The Brand New Club (for new bands), Klang (live electronic) as well as a semi-regular Afrobeat night.
